NWLTC campuses in Natchitoches and Many to officially move under CLTCC on July 1

Alexandria, La., June 30, 2017 — Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) announced today that the reassignment of the Natchitoches and Sabine Valley (Many) campuses of Northwest Louisiana Technical College (NWLTC) to CLTCC will be official July 1, which is the start of the college’s new fiscal year.

The reassignment of these two campuses is one of several budget stabilization measures approved by the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) board in March of this year, hoping to save approximately $10 million, prevent future layoffs, and strengthen the finances of its colleges across the state.  Several campuses within LCTCS have been reassigned to new parent colleges. The moves were based on location, workforce needs, and programming.

"We have been working with NWLTC on transition plans for these two new campus for several weeks, and we are delighted to welcome the students, faculty, and staff,” said CLTCC Chancellor Jimmy Sawtelle.  “These campus reassignments are all proactive steps to ensure we are able to continue our mission of training students for high-skill, high-demand, and high-wage jobs.”

"We are excited about the transition to CLTCC,” said Laurie Morrow, Campus Dean for Natchitoches and Sabine Valley.  “This will certainly mean growth for our campuses and greater opportunities for our students. While our name may change our quality of training and service to students will remain at the forefront of our mission.”

Last year, LCTCS enrolled about 131,000 students, transferred about 15,000 students to four-year universities, and graduated 28,853 students.

CLTCC is a two-year technical and community college offering associate degrees, technical diplomas, industry certificates, and customized training in more than 20 disciplines to support local workforce development and prepare students for good-paying jobs.  CLTCC serves nine parishes in Central Louisiana through its seven locations and provides instruction in three state prisons and two federal correctional institutions.
