Home of the Central Louisiana Technical Community College Faculty Senate

The Central Louisiana Technical Community College Faculty Senate (hereinafter referred to as the Senate) operates as a legislative body, composed of representatives of all academic units, and as a system of committees run by and for the faculty. The Senate serves as the principal channel of communication between Central Louisiana Technical Community College faculty and the administration. the Senate and administration collaboration depends on a high level of consultation, trust, mutual respect, and a tradition of collegial partnership. We are dedicated to shared governance, transparency, and the improvement of the college.

Mission/Purpose:

The purpose of the Central Louisiana Technical Community College Faculty Senate shall be to promote the general welfare of the college;  to facilitate effective communication among the faculty of Central Louisiana Technical Community College and other entities within the College to achieve the primary objective of the College: effective instruction.

The mission of the Central Louisiana Technical Community College Faculty Senate is to represent faculty and students relevant to college policy and procedures. Its purpose is:

  • To initiate policy proposals;
  • To make recommendations on policy proposals submitted to the Senate by administrative officials of the college; to represent faculty in discussions of controversial issues;
  • To request from the administrative officials of the college information which might influence policies and recommendations
  • To make recommendations on policy proposals submitted to the Senate by administrative officials of the college
  • Present the views and recommendations of the college faculty to the administration of the Central Louisiana Technical Community College as they relate to policies of academic and professional matters.
  • Be an integral part of this institution's instructional programs, policy-making, and growth plans.
  • Foster programs and activities that shall develop the pride and responsibility, leadership, character, and community involvement of the faculty of the institution.
  • Develop cooperation and fellowship among the faculty and between the instructional programs of the institution.
  • To provide a continuous and integrated survey of the educational and professional needs of the faculty, students, and college, and after setting priorities, to develop and implement programs aimed at meeting those needs;
  • To serve as a permanent structure for constructive dialogue amongst faculty, administration, and stakeholders so that all can work in close cooperation as a forward-moving college
  • To collaborate with and effectively implement the guidelines and directives given by the college chancellor and other designated representatives.

The Faculty Senate represents all faculty employed by Central Louisiana Technical Community College and serves as a collective voice in matters concerning the faculty, as a means for shared governance at the college. Considering the role faculty plays in the learning process, faculty have traditional and legitimate rights and responsibilities in making decisions and policies in academic matters.
