Applying for Financial Aid

Eligibility
All students must meet the following criteria to apply for Title IV Federal Financial Aid:
- Be enrolled as a regular student in a degree seeking or certificate program
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen (permanent resident)
- Be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to receive Federal Direct Loans
- Not be in default on prior student loans or owe a refund on a federal grant
- Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as described in the Satisfactory Academic progress section
- Registered with Selective Service, if required to do so
- Have a valid Social Security number
What is Title IV Federal Financial Aid?
Federal Pell, Federal SEOG, Federal Work Study, & Go Grants are all considered Title IV programs.
How to Apply
- Create your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID and password. Your parent will also need to create a FSA ID and password if you are a dependent student.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov.
- The Federal School Code for all campuses at CLTCC is 005489
- FAFSA should be completed 6 months before the semester begins
- CLTCC will receive your information in 7-10 business days.
- Need assistance with FAFSA? Call and schedule an appointment with the financial aid officer at your campus, or call 1-800-4FEDAID (1-800-433-3243)
- Review Your Aid on LOLA
- Log onto your LOLA account and click the Financial Aid tab, then click Eligibility
- Selected for Verification –you will receive a separate email from Inceptia with further instructions.
- Summer students will receive an email from Student Aid Process with further instructions.
- Check your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status
- Accept your Aid on LOLA
- Log onto your LoLA account and select the financial aid tab
- Select Award, then award for aid year
- Click Accept Award Offer
- Should you accept your loans, you must complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note at https://studentaid.gov
- Log onto your LoLA account and select the financial aid tab
- Verify you have Authorized Aid on your Account
- This will secure your classes for the semester
- Allow you to use a book voucher, if approved.
- Disbursement
- Occurs after census date
- Post aid to student accounts
- Tuition and fees and book charges deducted from aid
- Refund
- Remaining balance after tuition, fees and bookstore charges are deducted from authorized aid

Completing the FAFSA
Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at the Federal Student Aid website. This will determine your eligibility for grant funds, student loans, etc. To be eligible for financial aid, you must have earned a regular High School Diploma, GED, High School Equivalency Diploma via the HiSET, or have the Ability to Benefit.
